J. CHRISTOPHER BUDDO, DMA
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF DOUBLE BASS AND ASSOCIATE DEAN, Chris Buddo has served on the Baylor University faculty since 1990. Previously, he held teaching positions at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois and at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
In addition, Chris is principal bass of the Waco Symphony Orchestra and a regular section substitute with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. He has also held positions in the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra, the Quad City Symphony Orchestra, the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra, and the Bedford Springs Music Festival.
As a conductor, he has been the Director of the Iowa City Youth Orchestra and is co-founder and former conductor of the Waco Symphony Youth Orchestra, which was established in 1991. Dr. Buddo earned the Bachelor of Music degree from James Madison University and the Master of Arts and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Iowa. He has studied double bass under Samuel Cross and Eldon Obrecht and conducting under James Dixon.
